WA LIBS REINFORCE STANCE AGAINST SHOOTING GALLERIES

The Western Australian Liberal Party has used the release of three
discussion papers on drugs to reiterate its opposition to heroin
shooting galleries in the state.

Three papers covering the topics of drugs and young people, the
indigenous community and families, have been released in the lead up
to the five-day drug summit in August.

The Opposition's spokesman on drug abuse, Simon O'Brien, says there is
a perception the summit will be a forum for debating radical
approaches such as legalised cannabis, shooting galleries and free
heroin.

He says the State Government should acknowledge the broad community
opposition to the normalisation of drug use and abuse in the state.
