JUST SAY YES? POT USE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TERROR
April 12, 2002 -- If smoking grass makes Andrea Peyser see imaginary cops,
perhaps she should also try Lithium ("Tokes on these humorless jerks,"
April 10). Funny how this self-proclaimed "pro-choice" Democrat seems to
think personal choice ends with reproductive rights.
Particularly pathetic is the way she seems to tout the government line of
marijuana users aiding terrorists. If that isn't a sick way of trying to
get someone to quit something, I don't know what is. How dare our
government use that tragedy to advance such an agenda. Potheads did not
destroy the World Trade Center.
Why is it that the likes of Andrea Peyser, who consider abortion a
constitutional right, cringe at the idea of legalized marijuana, when pot
smokers hurt no one but themselves? Daniel Sammarco Huntington Station
I am sorry that Peyser didn't enjoy her experience with marijuana, but
millions of Americans do.
As a 19-year-old college student, I am still trying to figure out why my
representatives in Washington feel that they are entitled to draft me, but
feel that I can not responsibly enjoy marijuana. Sam Barclay St. Louis, Mo.
We'd all like to think that Mayor Bloomberg's admission is shocking, but
previous officials such as Gov. Pataki, Al Gore and Bill Clinton have used
more evasive responses to similar questions.
We should be glad that Bloomberg answered a one-sentence question in, well,
one sentence. Daniel Margul Brooklyn
New York City has gone to pot, and I don't mean the potholes in the roads.
However, to his credit, at least Mayor Bloomberg is honest about his past
drug use, unlike most politicians. Kenneth Zimmerman Huntington Beach, Calif.
Mayor Bloomberg just reached his 100th day in office. How do you suppose he
celebrated this "milestone?" Marilyn Kirschner Manhattan
