TESTS COULD HELP CURB STUDENT DRUG USE
To the editor:
I see nothing wrong and would actually encourage drug testing for students
involved in athletics and certain extracurricular activities. I think the
schools have a right to want drug-free students on their teams, which
represent their schools. I compare it to employers exercising their right
to employ people who are drug-free. These people represent the company;
therefore, the companies have a right to employ people who are drug-free.
If you aren't doing drugs, why should you care to be tested? In fact, I
would welcome the testing if I had nothing to hide. Another reason for my
support of testing is that with the drug and alcohol use so prevalent among
our teens, I think this would definitely help curb drug use. Something
needs to be said about the accountability factor.
