HYPOCRISY IN ACTION

Re: "Indian's "field of dreams' runs afoul of drug laws," April 7 news story.

What's wrong with this picture? On April 7 I read how our tax dollars are
being used to eradicate a perfectly legitimate crop (hemp) because
legalizing it might send the wrong message, or allow the legalization of
marijuana to follow. More recently, I read appalling statistics about the
toll that alcohol takes on college students. The inherent hypocrisy is so
outrageous, no wonder we drink so much. Our tax dollars do subsidize
alcohol production.

When policy of any kind is dictated by ideology rather than by
intelligence, we will always exist in a hypocritical and lethal world.
