GROW OPERATORS WHO DAMAGE RENTALS

Glenn Mageau The Province

The landlords "fell" for a grow-op? How did they know the tenant was a grower?

I got burned too, by a very "nice" couple. It cost me $15,000 and they
walked away free as a bird.

The RCMP wouldn't let me break the door down when they were inside to be
caught red-handed -- something about their rights.

I found out the bad guys have all the rights and the average Joe keeps
getting it in the neck.

I guess if the courts and the cops don't work, then maybe vigilante groups
will be the only alternative. The problem here is a "lack of consequences"
for bad behaviour.

Here's what you said about: Grow operators who damage rentals

Don Sturrock The Province

Bob and Gaye Preston aren't out $20,000 because they did their civic duty.
They are out of pocket because the guy they rented their house to operated
a marijuana grow-op.

They can still launch a civil suit, and if they can prove their loss they
can get a garnishee order. Surely someone who worked for 36 years in the
court system should know that civil court is the route to take.
