DRUG USERS PART OF U.S. PROBLEMS
It appears recent letter-writer David McKinney is part of the problem with
society today. He stated that "drug users and pushers who do not hurt
people have no more business being in jail than people who just had a
couple of beers and were arrested for driving under the influence or
driving with a suspended license."
Nowhere in the state statutes does it say that one is allowed to sell drugs
or drive under the influence or break any other law "unless a person is hurt."
The person who sells drugs hurts the people who buy them, along with people
who associated with the drug user.
Why can't people take responsibility for their actions? It is always
someone else's fault. The drunk always says, "But I didn't kill anyone."
That is not the point. The drug-seller says, "If they don't buy it from me,
they'll buy it somewhere else."
