HEROIN TRIALS WILL REDUCE CRIME
The announcement for heroin prescription trials is welcome and desperately
needed.
In 1998 I introduced a motion in Parliament calling on the federal
government to support the proposal, as suggested by Drs. Michael
O'Shaughnessy and Martin Schecter. I have lobbied all levels of government
to move on this critical issue.
This common-sense approach, which has worked successfully in Europe, will
not only help individual injection drug users but also will significantly
improve safety and reduce crime.
