BRITAIN: POLICE SEEK CHANGE IN DRUG POLICY
The country's police chiefs said they would like to see heroin and cocaine
users sent to treatment centers rather than prisons because current drug
laws were not working. A review by the Association of Chief Police Officers
said that treating addicts might be the way to cut down on hard drug use
and provide an opportunity to break the cycle of drug-related crimes and
deaths.
