UVM'S WAR ON WEED

I hope all Vermonters, especially those in the Legislature, are
outraged that UVM spent $90,000 to quash the innocuous and
ineffective annual April 20 marijuana civil disobedience "event."

Is the fact that students gather once annually for the sole purpose
of protesting the foolish laws that keep marijuana illegal unbearable
to the administration? I make no apologies on behalf of the student
body for smoking marijuana, any time or anywhere. I apologize,
though, on behalf of our institution, to the parents of at least two
Vermonters who could have had their college educations paid for had
the administration not spent that $90,000 on creating a concert in
order to disguise an essentially military operation that was used to
quell a peaceful demonstration.
