FIND SOLUTIONS TO STOP DISEASE

As director of the Chicago Recovery Alliance, I was pleased to see
some decent reporting of the issues involved in conducting disease
prevention outreach to people injecting in Peoria in the May 5
articles. Journal Star reporters did their job and captured most of
the issues involved as well as uncovered the big one: Why haven't all
involved sat down to talk about these issues instead of settling with
misunderstandings and incomplete information?

I challenge the Peoria County Health Department to gather all involved
for a meeting. I am quite certain that sitting together we will all
see the mutual interests involved and come up with a solution for the
health and well-being of all Peoria.

Creating an ordinance is a poor substitute for simple, mature
communication.
