LEGALIZE DRUGS AND PROMOTE BAD HABITS

To the Editor:

The writer of the letter April 7 feels legalizing marijuana would solve all
our problems. I feel it would unravel new, unnecessary problems.

Legalize marijuana and our whole moral system would be thrown out the
window. Our country is so concerned about preventing disease and being
healthy. Legalizing marijuana would promote lung cancer and brain damage.
Instead of preventing crime it would be promoted, because instead of making
drug busts, officers will be cleaning up messes of people who smoke and do
illegal things because they have no control.

Society promotes "don't drink and drive." But when you're high, your senses
are just as impaired.

As a high school student, one of the reasons I choose not to use drugs is
because it's illegal. If it was legalized, many kids would start, and it
could possibly blur their decision-making.

Legalize marijuana, and what drug would be next?
