PAPER SHOULDN'T HAVE RUN DISTASTEFUL FEATURE
To me, the word "star" usually suggests admiration and accolades. Evidently
not so for the Journal Sentinel with its distasteful and disgusting May 5
front page with its article by Jessica McBride and Nahal Toosi titled
"Ecstasy stars in rave at coliseum."
Despite the writers' explanation of the illegal drug and its effects, I
sensed an approving attitude in their reporting. Adding to that was the
large color photo wasting most of the front page and another inside
depicting the orgy.
If all the people responsible for sponsoring the rave events use as their
excuse "constitutional rights to freedom of assembly," I hope they will
know whom to blame when youths with dilated pupils and glow sticks, sucking
on pacifiers and lollipops govern their country.
At this time in history when we have very little to celebrate, why feature
something sickening, unlawful and harmful?
