PROBATION OFFICER ACCUSED IN POT CASE

Madison - A U.S. probation officer based in Eau Claire has been
arrested on accusations of growing marijuana at his rural Dunn County
home.

The 39-year-old agent was arrested at the federal courthouse in Eau
Claire after authorities searched his rural Mondovi residence and
recovered 26 small marijuana plants growing indoors in plastic pots,
said Dunn County Assistant District Attorney Andrew Maki.

The agent was released Wednesday on a $1,000 signature bond, Maki
said. Formal charges have not yet been filed, but Maki said the
charge will likely be manufacturing marijuana.

The agent has been suspended and his caseload reassigned pending the
outcome of his case.
