CURTSINGER WILL TACKLE TRAFFIC, EDUCATION AND TAX ISSUES
Candidates Respond
First, I thank the Herald-Leader for the opportunity to respond to its
endorsement of my opponent, saying he is a "better bet."
I am a Kentucky native, a Lexington resident for 36 years, married to Janet
for 43 years, an Army veteran, a Mason and involved in my church. I have
owned and managed my own business all my life.
I know what it takes to make a payroll in good and bad times. I don't
gamble, and I am opposed to any expansion of gambling.
Education, traffic and taxes are my most important concerns, and as I walk
door to door, people have expressed these same concerns. The majority of
the area's growth has been in the 88th district, yet our school needs have
not been addressed. I will work to see that they are.
To improve traffic, I will push to place focus on our high traffic areas,
bad intersections and the timing of stoplights.
We need better accountability of taxes and spending to prevent further tax
increases. I will take a hard look at both.
We have seen murder and other crimes increase in Lexington and Kentucky,
most of them drug-related. I will ask for stronger efforts to stop the
illegal drug flow.
I will work for more affordable health care.
If you agree, please vote for me on May 28.
