PAIN MANAGEMENT

I read with interest Parts 1, 2 and 3 of your series, "Rx for death." As a
nurse, I am 100 percent for pain management. There are many people who
choose to suffer with pain because they think "pills" are unhealthy,
period. There are those who fear getting hooked on drugs, and doctors who
are still conservative and underprescribe pain management.

For those accidental or intentional deaths, nothing is 100 percent
predictable or policeable. The stress of pain is more damaging than a
pharmaceutical.
