GOD'S LAW MISAPPLIED
I nearly coughed up a mouthful of coffee on my newspaper when I read Terry
Blaney's ridiculous comment (letters, May 28) about the law of supply and
demand for illegal drugs being God's law, thereby making the war against
drugs in violation of God's law. A principle of basic economics, maybe -
but "God's law"? Please!
Granted, progress in the "war" on drugs has been poor at best, and that is
aside from the question of whether it should even be waged or not. But I
wonder if Blaney would apply that logic to guns, child prostitutes and
animal furs. Probably not, I am guessing. I believe that God's law runs
more along the lines of "love your neighbor" than "make everything I want
legal."
