WASH. POLICE: TEEN TURNS IN DAD
COVINGTON, Wash. (AP) - A teen-ager who had become "sick and tired of being
around drugs" called authorities and had his father arrested for growing
marijuana in their suburban Seattle home, sheriff's deputies say.
The 17-year-old dialed 911 on Tuesday, and his 38-year-old divorced father
was arrested when he arrived home that night.
Sheriff's Sgt. Greg Dymerski said deputies seized at least 40 marijuana
plants and bags of dried and ready-to-sell buds. "They could smell the
stuff two or three houses away," Dymerski said.
"The kid said he was sick and tired of being around drugs and sick and
tired of his dad doing drugs," Dymerski said. "He's a good kid, and his
conscience got the best of him."
The boy, his 15-year-old sister and their 7-year-old brother were turned
over family friends for the night.
"I think he was pretty upset about it, turning in Dad," Dymerski said, "but
the bottom line is, he did the right thing."
