TEENS CHARGED IN BEATINGS PLEAD NOT GUILTY
Jeremy Solito and Michael Anthony Jordan, the teenagers charged in the May
1 beatings of John Barrymore III and Rebecca Barrymore in their Mountain
View home, pleaded not guilty on Thursday to charges of attempted murder
and other felonies.
Jordan, 17, of Santa Clara, and Solito, 18, of San Jose, are being tried as
adults. Other teens are facing charges in juvenile courts. A Santa Clara
County judge will hold a preliminary hearing Aug. 19-21 to determine
whether there is enough evidence to proceed with the case against Solito
and Jordan.
Investigators say Solito, Jordan and other teens were after marijuana
growing in the Barrymore house. The teens allegedly used a trailer hitch in
the attack.
Barrymore is the half-brother of actress Drew Barrymore.
