A WASTEFUL DRUG WAR

To the Editor:

Re "Time to Move on Drug Law Reform" (editorial, June 13):

Government resources are finite, and with necessary new security measures
that will require more money, it is imperative that federal, state and
local officials move to stop wasting police time with the arrests of
peaceful drug users and concentrate their efforts on finding the terrorists
who threaten all our lives.

The war on drugs has been waged under the guise of protecting children. Now
those same children are demanding that illicit drugs be legally regulated,
and in the case of marijuana, taxed, so as to provide another source of
revenue to finance our schools and homeland security forces.
