FREE CRACK MOUTHPIECES WILL ENCOURAGE DRUG USE

Editor's note: The B.C. Ministry of Health plans to set aside
funding, as early as April, for pieces of surgical tubing that can be
attached to the end of a crack pipe. The mouthpieces, which will be
available upon request to B.C. health authorities, are designed to
prevent the spread of hepatitis C and other communicable diseases
among drug users.

To my knowledge, crack cocaine is an illegal drug. Why is our
provincial government becoming an enabler by giving out free stuff for it?

The addicts put themselves in their position. The government should
be giving recovery for these addicts, if anything.

Government officials who came up with this stupid idea need to give
their heads a shake. More addicts will move here just because of this offer.

Why would an addict want to kick the habit when our government makes
it comfortable for them?

The bottom line is that addiction, for most, is a choice. The
government should rethink this stupid idea. Maybe we can stop it
before it gets started.
