REGULATIONS FOR A REASON
Editor;
Some substances we ingest are controlled for a reason. Not because they may
be harmful, but because we may be harmful to others after ingesting such
substances.
Drinking and driving is illegal because intoxication may cause a driver to
run a red light and T-bone a car with a young family in it. Marijuana is
illegal because it can hurt others just as bad as it can harm you, some
people even become violent when on the drug. Saying we might as well ban
Rice Krispies or jail people for bad BO is not even close to the same
thing. A person will not negligently cause harm or death to someone for
eating Rice Krispies and bad BO does nothing more than offend those close by.
As for people being able to do what they want in their own home, a person
living in a rented house or apartment must still obey the landlord's
regulations, and that may include no grow operations allowed.
You don't own the house you rent.
Some things are regulated for a reason. Doing anything that can cause harm
or death to another person is illegal so people can't blame it on the drug
or the act.
