TEST ADULTS IN SCHOOLS BEFORE TARGETING THE KIDS
The reasoning behind last week's U.S. Supreme Court ruling allowing random
drug testing of high school students is that the need to keep the public
schools drug-free supersedes the individual rights of students. This is
laughable in Palm Beach County. While I agree that having drug-free schools
is a reasonable expectation of parents and students and easily attainable,
the ineffective and impotent school board disagrees.
Why aren't all adult employees, teachers, administrators, clerks, managers,
superintendents and other officials randomly tested three to four times a
year for drugs (with no warning) to ensure a drug-free educational
environment for our children? The school board has no interest in tackling
the problem, no stomach for doing what needs to be done.
