DARE DOESN'T REDUCE DRUG RISK

By Marcus Rummery, Received via email

Regarding Constable Sheila Roy's assertion that, "a little education can't
hurt," I would like to remind her of a study that demonstrated those
children who took DARE were actually more likely to use drugs.

Devastating results aside, there are many studies that show DARE kids are
no less likely to use drugs than those not exposed to DARE. Given the
scandalous lack of treatment facilities in B.C. is it really a priority to
spend money on ineffective feel-good measures? Why bother with education
anyway when in a few short years hair samples will reveal a person's entire
drug history.

When will we wake up and accept that humans are not capable of conducting
their own lives and invest in universal random drug-testing?
