CHEAP SHOT AT GOOD GUY

The death of Darryl Kile was indeed a tragedy. He was an excellent athlete,
a team player, a good family man and humanitarian. I am sure his family is
devastated and needs all the support it can get.

What I don't understand is why a reporter would write "police found a
substance believed to be marijuana" in his hotel room ("Baseball's loss,"
June 24). It would have been pertinent had he died from a drug overdose.
But he did not.

It was a cheap shot at a fine man who is no longer here to defend himself.
It was poor reporting that caused misery for a family that has suffered enough.
