STUDENTS LAUNCH WAR AGAINST DRUGS
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - STUDENTS at the Sayyidina Husain Secondary
School (SMSH) kicked off their annual anti-drug awareness campaign
yesterday with a big bang.
The school launched into a month of aggressive promotion as part of a
nationwide programme for an ongoing anti-drug drive organised by the
government.
SMSH elected their school's Anti-Drug Team, or A-team from the
school's Pembimbing Rakan Sebaya or Peer Guidance Group, to illustrate
this year's nationwide competition theme of "Remaja Berwawasan,
Kestabilan Negara"( Youths with visions contribute to a stable
nation), to their schoolmates and to youths in general.
The five-man student team from the Sengkurong-based school claimed to
have mobilised themselves for the launch in less than two days' of
preparations.
The school's Form One students were treated to a skit entitled "Kesal"
(Regret), and recited an original Malay poem called "Dadah Musuh
Negara" (Drugs are the Country's Enemy), both performed by members of
the school's Peer Guidance Group.
Yesterday the school's hall was decorated with banners promoting their
cause, adding to the exposure provided by the recent installation
outside the school of used PET bottles spelling out the year's theme.
One of the SMSH A-team members, Dk Nur 'Atiqah Pg Hj Mohd Japri said
that they hoped to hold more events of interest for their peers, even
beyond the end of the competition.
They also announced a futsal event towards the same cause this
Saturday on the school's grounds.
The competition period will draw to a close by the end of this month,
after which a definite winner will be announced from the participating
schools.
