DRUG TESTING
Brian C. Bennett
Barboursville, Va. -- So now the U.S. Supreme Court has declared that drug
testing of students is an important part of dealing with the epidemic of
teenage drug use. Too bad the tests don't detect the two main drugs of
choice among these youngsters:
Alcohol and tobacco.
Too bad, too, that the tests (as with workplace drug testing) don't detect
current impairment.
Thus they have nothing to do with proving that a student has used drugs on
school property.
The real lesson for these students is that they should bone up on the
history of the Third Reich.
