HOW DOES IT GET HERE?

To the Editor:

There has been something very strange going on in our community -- silent
visits of drug fairies.

What is a drug fairy? Well it is obviously the strange little creatures of
some storybook that deliver drugs to our area for distribution.

I have kept up very closely with arrests made in connection with the drug
problem in our community. Yes, indeed, there are quite a few "major" drug
busts, as they are being referred to by local officials. I only have one
problem with this. Where are the drugs coming from?

Not once have I read an article reporting that a "major" supplier has been
arrested. Not once have I read any reports as to HOW the drugs are being
brought into our community.

All the people being arrested in these "major" drug busts apparently all
simply wake up one fine morning and the drug fairy has delivered him/her a
supply to sell on the streets. That's the only conclusion I have been able
to conjure.

Does it not make sense to attempt to cut the flow INTO the area as well as
arresting those who distribute? Now those would certainly be some "major"
busts.
