EPD COP NABBED FOR SHABU
Policemen arrested a fellow lawman inside the headquarters of the Eastern
Police District (EPD) in Pasig City for possessing 100 grams of
methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu shortly before dawn yesterday.
Supt. Gilbert Cruz of the EPD-Police Community Relations identified the
arrested cop as PO2 Elmer Ramos, 26, a member of the EPD's Drug Enforcement
Group, and a resident of Liberty Ave., Murphy, Cubao, Quezon City.
Cruz said Ramos' arrest was a result of "plan Cassandra" of the District
Intelligence and Investigation Division (DTTD), which was launched to
identify and remove misfits from the police force. Ramos, Cruz said, was
already placed under covert surveillance after they received a report that
Ramos was involved in illegal drug activities.
Ramos would be charged with illegal possession of prohibited drugs.
Chief Supt. Rolando Sacramento, EPD district director, said they are still
investigating Ramos to determine the extent of his alleged illegal drug
operation and to find out if other policemen, if any, were involved.
