RIGHTS IGNORED

Nancy Star's hearty endorsement of drug testing students, "Drug Testing
Supported" (Erie Times-News, July 8th ) ignores the salient point that we
are currently engaged in a war against terrorism, a war to defend American
values.

The Bill of Rights are, for all intents and purposes, America's Ten
Commandments of Freedom -- the bedrock of America's value system. At this
critical time in our history we should be encouraging our children to stand
up for their rights - not surrender them.
