POT LAW REFORM CLEARLY NEEDED

Accolades to John Nichols and The Capital Times for your committment to
campaigning for a change in America's drug policies! ("Pols must not be
silent on drug war," July 9).

I have followed the rapid reform of marijuana laws in the United Kingdom
(and indeed, all of Europe) over the past few years with great interest. It
seems the American media have all but ignored the laudable strides of our
overseas neighbors bringing sanity to their drug legislation.

I commend The Capital Times for undertaking such a noble task. Today, the
lives of hundreds of thousands of Americans are thrown into turmoil and
sometimes ruin for the simple act of smoking pot. Only policy reform can
save these lives. The Capital Times campaign is not only smart, it's
humanitarian. I salute you!
