GIVE MEDICAL POT PEACE A CHANCE

I disagree with the medical marijuana patient quoted in your story "Medical
pot war rages on," (July 1), who said, "federal law supersedes state law."
As the Fairfax planning commission rightly ruled, the federal government
lacks constitutional authority in the matter. Instead it has resorted to
underhanded tactics such as witholding funding (our taxpayer dollars) and
forfeiture without due process to strong-arm in its own will. Fairfax City
Council and your district attorney and health department are to be
commended for standing up for the will of California voters. Courageous
Lynnette Shaw is the Margaret Sanger of today, standing steadfast for
reason and compassion against ignorance and cruelty.
