OXYCONTIN VALUABLE FOR PATIENTS IN PAIN
The July 7-10 series on OxyContin pointed out the potential for abuse when
the drug is not prescribed or properly utilized. However, there are
hundreds of patients that do use this drug safely to appropriately and
successfully manage their pain. These patients follow their physicians'
orders for taking OxyContin. They take it by mouth and do not crush the
drug. OxyContin is a valued pain management drug that is utilized in the
hospice setting with minimal side effects.
