RETIRED NARCOTICS OFFICER PLEADS GUILTY TO DRUG CHARGES

A retired state police narcotics detective arrested a year ago on a slew of
drug charges entered a guilty plea to manufacturing methamphetamine and
cultivating marijuana this week. Benjamin Hadley reached a plea agreement
yesterday in U.S. District Court. He will serve 10 years in federal prison
with no probation, to be followed by supervised release, court records
show. Hadley, 52, was arrested over a year ago after police raided his
Adair County farm. Hadley's farm on Ky. 92 was 8 miles from the county
courthouse in Columbia. State police seized 971 marijuana plants and other
items it says belonged to Hadley. Included on a list filed with the Adair
County circuit clerk were 17 rifles and pistols, a book on firearm
silencers, marijuana pipes and bongs, an assortment of pills, and a video
on hydroponics gardening.
