BEER INDUSTRY BACKS CANNABIS PROHIBITION

I'm writing about Matthew M. Elrod's thoughtful July 28 letter in which he
observed some cannabis users drink alcohol but they tend to drink less than
non-cannabis users. I'm sure this has not escaped the manufactures of beer
and other alcoholic beverages. Perhaps our counterproductive policies of
cannabis prohibition continue because of multimillion-dollar contributions
from the beer industry into the campaign coffers and pockets of
politicians. Perhaps? Perhaps, perhaps is the wrong word.
