CONWAY HAS OFFICE TO HANDLE ADDICTIONS

We acknowledge Katherine Harris' comment in her letter [about OxyContin
abuse] July 26. The S.C. Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse
Services joins all concerned in pressing for an effective response to the
problem of prescription drug abuse in particular and substance abuse in
general.

In response to Harris' concern that Horry County has no rehab services,
please note the Shoreline Behavioral Health Services facility in Conway is
the authorized substance abuse prevention and treatment agency for the
county and offers an array of programs. Shoreline may be contacted at 365-8884.
