SET THOSE DEMON WEEDS FREE

There's no need to worry about decriminalizing pot (re "Don't hold your
breath," News, July 11). The political interest in legalizing it will come
as soon as the public momentum is there.

And the police also needn't worry. When pot is legalized, there's another
drug waiting in the wings perfect for their uses: tobacco. Best of all,
unlike pot, which was a drug demonized by a puritanical culture, tobacco
actually is an evil weed. The numbers of people killed by it and the proven
moral degradation of its users will give the police plenty of excuses to
break heads.

Snort! I knew I would never be able to write that and keep a straight face.
Long live freedom and damn the ideologies.
