CANADIAN SOLUTION
Re: "Hey, man! Don't Bogart that joint," Catherine Ford, Opinion, July 24.
As a father of two wonderful daughters, aged 19 and 13, I can certainly
attest prohibition has done nothing to limit their access to any illicit
substance (nor did it back in my high school years in Edmonton).
As always, our politicians seem to opt for demagoguery by confusing
prohibition with regulation for their own benefit. I hope common sense will
prevail and that our politicians will have the courage to do the right
thing. American moral apprehension is a poor substitute for good public
policy. Thank God, we live in Canada!
