WRONG LESSONS?
Re: "Drug war is teaching wrong lessons," by Jeremy Roebuck, Viewpoints,
July 28.
Mr. Roebuck is a perceptive, courageous and perhaps lonely man. He lives in
Plano, attends SMU and interns at The Dallas Morning News. That someone
with all those strikes against him can articulate such an intelligent,
progressive point of view is astonishing. He reminds me of my college
friends in the late '60s, early '70s, whose unwelcome, dissenting voices
and activities helped bring an end to a war as stupid as the drug war. Keep
up the good work and don't give up, Mr. Roebuck. But please get your degree
and get away from here before the right-wing, knuckle-dragging rednecks
you're living, learning and working around put you on the evildoers list.
