ROUNDING UP POT HEADS ON FERRIES WITH DRUG-SNIFFING CANINES

If the bad guys are using the ferries to transport an illegal substance,
then the good guys should be allowed to use the ferries to catch them.

And the civil libertarians are not speaking for me. They, too, are a bunch
of no-good, do-gooders.

Mike Harrison, North Delta

There's nothing wrong with it. The people who think there's something wrong
with it are probably the people who smoke pot themselves. Why would they
have a problem if they weren't carrying any on them?

Greg Kilpatrick, Surrey

Congratulations to the police for doing their job. The B.C. Civil Liberties
Association needs its closet looked into.

Bill Martins, White Rock

This is a great idea. Perhaps Mr. Dixon of the B.C. Civil Liberties
Association is worried he might get caught some day.

Richard Pentecost, Pitt Meadows

We complain when the police don't do their job. We complain when they do
their job. Why doesn't this civil liberties outfit mind its own business
and let the force do its job? The guys are doing what they're paid to do.

David Ray, Oliver

If the police are violating the civil liberties of anybody, it's of
criminals who are trafficking large amounts of drugs throughout the province.

It said right in the article they are not going after the guys who have one
or two joints in their cars. They're going after people who are trafficking
the stuff. When you're doing criminal acts, you sacrifice your civil liberties.

Carolyn Cart, Vancouver

I agree with the dog-sniffing bit on the ferries. I see nothing wrong with
that. It's an excellent idea.
