ECSTASY DEATH GIRL'S FATHER IS ARRESTED

The father of Jade Slack, the 10-year-old girl who died after taking
ecstasy, was arrested yesterday.

A police spokesman said Simon Slack was arrested on suspicion of "being
concerned in the supply of controlled substances" and questioned at
Lancaster police station.

Jade died in hospital on July 14 after taking ecstasy at a friend's home in
Galgate, near Lancaster. Results of toxicology tests, released this week,
showed she had a substantial amount of the drug in her blood.

Police took the unusual step of naming her 31-year-old father, of Galgate,
who was bailed until Sept 20.

Three people arrested shortly after Jade's death were questioned again by
detectives earlier this week.

The 20-year-old man and two women, aged 17 and 20, were released again on
police bail until Sept 24.

The schoolgirl's funeral in Galgate last Friday was attended by about 200 of
her friends, family and classmates.
