FERRY SPOTCHECKS A GOOD CALL

I can't believe the naivete columnist Paul Willcocks displayed in his Aug.
7 column, "Police, BC Ferries went off the deep end."

BC Ferries is part of a public highway. As a result, motor vehicles were
searched much as those searched in spotchecks on highways are -- after
reasonable grounds were found. In this case, they were found by the nose of
a police dog. We're not talking about a joint or two of marijuana. We're
talking kilograms, quantities that were clearly intended to be sold and a
large profit to be made.

If the B.C. Civil Liberties Association types, drug traffickers and Mr.
Willcocks would like privacy in their automobiles, they should simply not
use B.C. ferries for transport. End of story.

Hurray for the police.
