DRUG CRIMES DOMINATE IN ALPINE VALLEY ARRESTS

EAST TROY - When the Walworth County Sheriff's Department finished counting
on Saturday night, deputies had arrested 45 people and written citations to
another 121 at the Grateful Dead revival concert at Alpine Valley Resort.
This is according to a press release from the department.

Except for one person named on a warrant issued by an agency outside the
county, all the arrests were for drug offenses - either possessing or
delivering marijuana, heroin, cocaine, LSD, opium, nitrous oxide, Ecstasy,
or psilocybin.

Of the citations, the majority, 106, were for possession of marijuana.
There were three for disorderly conduct, one for resisting arrest, and two
for criminal damage to property. The others were for such offenses as
illegal vending, possession of drug paraphernalia, and underage drinking.

After the concert, which ended at midnight Saturday, it took about three
and a half hours to completely clear the parking lot, the press release said.
