ALL-OUT WAR VS JUETENG, ILLEGAL DRUGS
Barely a week after PRO4 acting director Senior Supt. Medardo B. Apacible
laid down his priority action programs against criminality and other peace
and order problems in Southern Tagalog, all PNP field units in the region
were closely watched of their required target goal of accomplishments.
In fact, he tasked PRO4 deputy director for operations Senior Supt. Delfin
Genio Jr. to maintain a scoreboard of the field units' daily accomplishments
even as he threatened lower unit commanders performing below par with relief
post without prejudice of filing appropriate charges if warranted.
Data received at the PRO4 regional office since Aug.5 disclosed that there
were 444 persons already arrested in the all-out campaign against illegal
drugs, illegal gambling and wanted persons in the region.
Of this number, 190 persons were arrested for illegal gambling as police
operatives seized P74,486.40 cash bets; 94 persons (36 pushers and 58 users)
were arrested in illegal drugs and recovered 10.21 grams of shabu and 155
grams of marijuana; while 160 other persons arrested were fugitives of the
law.
In the campaign against illegal gambling, leading units in the scoreboard
were Batangas PPO with 72 persons arrested and P27,052 cash bets
confiscated; Laguna PPO with 46 persons arrested and P3,414.00 confiscated
while Quezon PPO has 44 arrested persons and P42,047 confiscated.
In the campaign against illegal drugs, Rizal PPO has the most number of
persons arrested with eight pushers and 12 users followed by Batangas PPO
with eight pushers and eight users.
