AUTHORITIES ARREST SEVEN AFTER GRATEFUL DEAD CONCERT DRUG BUST
ELKHORN--Walworth County Sheriff's Department officials are still gathering
information and sorting out the details of a large drug bust in the Alpine
Valley parking lot Sunday during a reunion concert by members of the
Grateful Dead.
Garbage bags full of marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms were found on a
dark blue school bus, Sheriff David Graves and other department officials said.
Officials were suspicious of the bus because it was similar to a
description of a bus being sought by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.
Although the bus was not the one the federal agency wanted, local officials
still arrested seven people in connection with the drugs they found.
Authorities raided the bus about 4:15 p.m. Sunday after an undercover
officer bought some drugs from one of the passengers.
After police surrounded the bus, the passengers began jumping out. One of
the suspects collided with an Elkhorn police officer, temporarily knocking
him unconscious before getting away.
The seven who were arrested are expected to be charged Friday in Walworth
County Court. All seven have had initial bail hearings.
Arrested were: Holly M. Cloutier, 29, of Oregon; Sarah C. Haler, 25, of
Oregon; Gerry A. Coffman, 22, of California; Edward J. Bullock, 27, of
Oregon; Ariel R. Manor, 18, of California; Adam P. Holt, 27, of Oregon; and
Patrick J. Quinn, 42, of Oregon.
Edward Michael Vaneron, 42, of Oregon escaped and is still being sought.
