SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT ISSUED MORE THAN 400 DRUG CITATIONS AT DEAD REUNION

ELKHORN--A converted tour bus searched Aug. 4 at a Grateful Dead
reunion concert in East Troy netted garbage bags full of drugs and
$7,000 in cash.

The Walworth County Sheriff's Department reported the bust at Alpine
Valley Music Theatre last week, but officials had not finished
totaling the amount of drugs recovered.

The sheriff's department now says it recovered 117 ounces--about 7.3
pounds--of psilocybin mushrooms, 120 ounces--71/2 pounds--of marijuana
and 56 grams of hashish from the bus.

Officials arrested seven people in the raid and found a 4-year-old
girl on the bus with the drugs. The girl was taken by Walworth County
Human Services personnel, who found her mother and turned the child
over to her.

Arrested were: Holly M. Cloutier, 29, of Oregon; Sarah C. Haler, 25,
of Oregon; Gerry A. Coffman, 22, of California; Edward J. Bullock, 27,
of Oregon; Ariel R. Manor, 18, of California; Adam P. Holt, 27, of
Oregon; and Patrick J. Quinn, 42, of Oregon.

Edward Michael Vaneron, 42, of Oregon escaped and is still being
sought.

Two officers were injured in the raid, neither seriously.

The sheriff's department also updated the arrest total for the concert
weekend. Officials said 80 people were arrested on state charges, and
269 county citations were issued for possession of marijuana.

Of the state arrests, 25 people were nabbed for possession of
marijuana with intent to deliver, 23 for possession of marijuana, nine
for delivery of marijuana, five for possession of LSD and possession
with intent to deliver LSD, and six people for delivery of LSD.

Ten people were arrested for possession of psilocybin mushrooms, nine
for possession of mushrooms with intent to deliver, and one for
delivery of mushrooms.

The drug unit seized more than $34,000 in cash. It recovered 825
ounces--about 511/2 pounds--of marijuana, 7,294 doses of LSD, 8.8
grams of liquid LSD, 10 pounds of hallucinogenic mushrooms, 9 grams of
heroin, 82 grams of hashish, 6.3 grams of cocaine and a tank of
nitrous oxide, according to the department.

Lt. Tim Schiefelbein said the number of arrests and the follow-up from
the concert have kept the drug unit busy, and the unit may have more
cases coming.
