WHERE'S THE OUTCRY?

Doped-up fighter pilots RE: 'British distressed over hopped-up U.S. pilots'
(Aug. 3)

I am amazed at the lack of reaction regarding this report that U.S. fighter
pilots in Afghanistan are taking amphetamines to stay awake and fly longer.

One would think there would be an uproar -- at least in Canada when four of
our soldiers were killed by U.S. "friendly fire" in Afghanistan.

Here we have U.S. fighter pilots flying $50-million aircraft, loaded with
bombs and doped up on Dexedrine. It is no wonder they react to any gun
flashes they see on the ground while the U.S. Pentagon looks the other way.

And when they fly back to their base, they have to take sleeping pills to
bring them down from their highs.

I hope the Afghans have been told to stop firing celebratory rifle volleys
during wedding parties.
