I PAID PAINFUL PRICE FOR OXYCONTIN ABUSERS
In response to "Observer exploits drug fears" (July 25 Viewpoint):I am a
patient who has had to suffer because of others.
I was put on OxyContin for pain -- pain that wasn't controlled even on my
high dosage.
All at once, because of the news coverage of abuse of OxyContin, no one
wanted to write me a new prescription. I had been taking OxyContin for 14
months and was told I would go into withdrawal if I suddenly quit taking
it; yet my doctors wouldn't write the prescription. I ended up going
through pure torture.
