CANNABIS USERS RESPONSIBLE PEOPLE

Re: A.J. Gizzie's Letter to the Editor, Marijuana Has its Dangers, Aug. 15.

What I find objectionable in A.J. Gizzie's letter is the suggestion that
cannabis users are irresponsible cretins who would "blow a doob" before
flying a commercial airplane.

If memory serves me correctly, and it does, there was just recently an
incident in the United States where not one but two pilots were fired and
are facing charges for drinking before a scheduled flight.

And what about the fact that the annual May Marijuana March (Toronto) is
the only large scale rally that has consistently been held without
incident? It is also one of the few rallies that "Toronto's Finest" don't
come out as a SWAT force to monitor.

Jonathan Kay's column, Ottawa Can't Ban Good Medicine (Aug. 13), which Mr.
Gizzie responded to, was outstanding and should be commended, as should the
National Post.
