Q. America has been shutting down terrorists' bank accounts. If Osama bin
Laden is still alive, where is he getting his money?

A. Osama's operatives often are middlemen and dealers for South Asia's
heroin industry, which earns a fortune for their al-Qaeda terrorist
organization. The U.S. has the technology to destroy most of the poppy
fields that produce the heroin, but the State Department has vetoed that
initiative, infuriating some anti-terrorism experts. Its excuse: We don't
want to hurt the economics of our allies in the region-Pakistan and
Afghanistan.
