BERMUDA POLICE SEIZE COCAINE FROM CRUISE SHIP
HAMILTON, Bermuda - Police have seized 33 pounds of cocaine from a cruise
ship visiting Bermuda, authorities said on Friday.
Local media identified the ship as the Norwegian Majesty and said the haul
was worth up to $4.5 million on the streets of the British territory, where
drugs are far more expensive than in the United States.
Acting on intelligence reports, police and customs officials raided the
Norwegian Cruise Line ship on Tuesday in St. George's on the east of the
island, Detective Superintendent Larry Smith, head of the Bermuda Police
narcotics division, said on Friday.
No arrests have been made and an investigation is under way.
The Norwegian Majesty sails throughout the summer from Boston to Bermuda,
560 miles east of North Carolina.
